  • period of modernisation + influences from other countries changed its design
    • ladies Hanbok was simplified and skirts made wider for ease of movement
  • basic features remained same.
    • wide skirts and trousers and use of upper garment shaped like blouse / jacket
  • Koreans of higher status wore more colourful hanbok to signify social backward, rank, occupation.
